Assuming you are not under any time constraints, the Avalon provides a safe and pleasant ride. Unusually for a vehicle of its size, the chassis features an incredibly rapid turn-in. It feels solid and secure when going at greater speeds. The choices made regarding the Avalon’s engines are where most of my criticism is directed. A V6 engine is an option for the sedan, while a 2.5-liter four-cylinder is standard for the all-wheel drive version. This is true even if a V6 engine option is available for the sedan. Although the engine is great on its own, with 205 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, the Avalon is heavier than the gas-powered Toyota RAV4 that shares the same electric motor. This is so even if the Avalon’s electric powertrain is identical to that of the other vehicle. The Avalon’s all-wheel drive technology is incredibly sophisticated, so it’s a shame that it may make driving the vehicle feel somewhat uninteresting.
