Everything is standard on the Prius; the only alternatives are two paint colors and dealer-installed features like door protective mouldings, both of which cost extra. These are the only other choices that exist. Additional features included in the Limited trim level include a power hatch, a wireless phone charger, a self-parking system, premium audio, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, driver’s side memory, a digital rearview mirror, a fixed glass roof, and a 12.3-inch center touchscreen. Also included with the Limited trim is a fixed glass roof. Each tier comes with a free trial of a subscription-based connectivity service that includes a mobile app. Both can utilize a Google-based connection service with navigation, although only the XLE has access to it permanently (though the Limited gets it for three years as a trial).

An optional vertical center touchscreen was available on higher trim levels of the prior generation of the Toyota Prius. A number of the vehicle’s features were stored on this touchscreen. The driver had to divert their attention from the road to use this touchscreen, which was difficult to see even in bright sunlight, and to navigate menus and recognize symbols. On top of that, the touchscreen was really glarey. A huge leap forward has been made here. We have also reset the controls for the volume and tuning knobs to their factory default settings. The entrances are easily accessible, so getting in or out of the building is a breeze. However, the view out the back of the automobile is far less obstructed than it would be without the sloping rear window. Still, you shouldn’t have any problems seeing what’s ahead of the car.

Engine and Performance

According to NRCan, the Prius gets 4.8 L/100 km as a combined rating, 4.7 L/100 km on the highway, and 4.8 L/100 km in the city. The vehicle’s performance in a variety of road situations is the basis for these ratings. During the week I used it, I achieved a final score of 5.4, which is somewhat better than my initial score. The engine runs on 87 octane gasoline. Consistent with other iterations of the Prius, several assistance functions have undergone enhancements. The Prius can now slow down and stop itself if you are unable to steer, such as during a medical emergency, and the emergency braking system now includes improved front detection that can detect motorcycles in addition to pedestrians and cyclists. Other improvements include an enhanced lane departure system that can detect items like guard rails to help it determine the lane, four following-distance settings in adaptive cruise control (up from three), and an enhanced system that can detect motorcycles.

The Prius’s two trim levels cost $38,510 and $44,850, respectively, which is a bit steep in the niche market for hybrid vehicles of a similar size. As a result, the Prius is a more costly alternative. With just one hybrid trim level to choose from, the Hyundai Elantra starts at $31,074 (not including taxes). In contrast, the starting price for the front-wheel-drive basic trim of the Toyota Corolla Hybrid is $27,750, while the most expensive model in the lineup, the all-wheel-drive, retails for $36,050. With its updated exterior, more power, and improved ride and handling, the new 2025 Toyota Prius is fantastic. On top of that, the ride quality is much better. You should consider competing with it the next time you’re shopping for anything else since, flaws and all, it does a good enough job at most things. The fact that it gets good gas mileage is still a plus, even though it’s hardly the only thing going for it these days.
