2026 Toyota bZ5X Specs, Redesign, Interior    –    The all-2026 bZ5X is Toyota’s first attempt at an electric-only vehicle, even though the business was an early adopter of the current gas-electric hybrid setup. Exterior and Interior

Standard features on the basic version of the bZ5X L include an eight-inch touchscreen, heated mirrors, automated temperature control with two zones, variable intermittent wipers, cloth upholstery, and USB Type A and Type C charging ports. Included in the regular edition are all of these features. A 12.3-inch center screen, rather than the standard eight-inch screen, was an upgrade I made to the LE model. Other features included a motorized tailgate, heated front seats and the wheel, under-dash radiant warmers for the legs and feet, and rain-sensing wipers.

As standard equipment, the XLE trim level comes with a variety of added features. A panoramic sunroof, fabric and imitation leather upholstery, an auto-dimming mirror, and many more options are available. Included in this feature are 20-inch wheels, sophisticated parking assistance, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a hands-free tailgate, and the Technology package, an optional upgrade.

Despite its lack of feel, the bZ5X’s response to the driver’s steering inputs is quick and accurate. Despite not having the power of a sports car, it is nonetheless a lot of fun to drive. By lowering the center of gravity, the electric vehicle’s characteristic low-mounted battery enhances handling by decreasing body roll. This is the standard layout for electric cars. As a daily driver, you would expect it to perform most of those things, and it can.

A button on the center console allows you to increase the force of the regenerative braking system. Engine and Performance

An individual motor drives the front wheels of the bZ5X L and bZ5X LE. Within the limits of this motor are 196 pound-feet of torque and 201 horsepower (150 kW). An additional feature of the L and LE bZ5X models is the one-speed automatic gearbox that comes standard. Aside from their respective engine outputs (229 hp and 229 pound-feet of torque), the Volkswagen ID.4 and Subaru Solterra are mechanically indistinguishable. A 214-horsepower and 248-pound-foot torque package is available on the bZ5X when you choose for all-wheel drive and two motors. My tester accomplished all I set out to do, although lacking the AWD version’s robust performance. At a complete stop, it can swiftly gain speed, reach highway speeds, and pass with courage when necessary.

The Nissan Ariya with 348 kilometers, the Chevrolet Bolt EUV with 397 kilometers, the Volkswagen ID.4 with 336-443 kilometers, and the Kia EV6 with 373-499 kilometers are all examples of similar two-wheel drive cars. Ratings alone won’t be able to distinguish these vehicles. The bZ5X gets 1.8 liters per hundred kilometers when driven in city conditions. It falls to 2.0 liters per hundred kilometers in a mixed-mode situation and 2.2 liters per hundred kilometers when driving on the highway. (Since it is measured in liters equivalent, it is competitive with the proper quantity of gasoline energy.)

Though it had garnered the highest possible grade of “Good” in all IIHS testing, the bZ5X had yet to obtain an NHTSA rating when this was written. In order to better simulate the impact of a larger SUV crash, they revised the side-impact test. Starting at about $49,000 for the Volkswagen ID.4, $49,995 for the Kia EV6, and $52,500 for the Nissan Ariya are the corresponding starting prices. When looking for a reasonably priced two-wheel drive vehicle, consider the Chevrolet Bolt EUV. These prices do not include any potential incentives, but they do include shipping. I didn’t even realize I was driving a nearly $52,000 electric vehicle as I leisurely rode along in my test vehicle. Although electric vehicles are still on the pricier side, the 2026 Toyota bZ5X is competitively priced with competitors in its class.
